Michael Jackson – This Is It

Song written by Michael and Paul Anka in 1980, and registered with the United States Copyright Office in November 1984.
Paul Anka, who co-wrote the song, stated that it was recorded in 1983 for a duet intended between him and Jackson on his album "Walk a Fine Line" under the original title of "I Never Heard". The song was later included in SaFire’s album "I Wasn’t Born Yesterday".

"This Is It" is a song from Michael Jackson’s, posthumous, sixth compilation album, This Is It, which accompanies the upcoming Sony Pictures motion picture release "Michael Jackson’s This Is It"

Sony misleadingly referred to the song as a "new single" during its promotion, but that track was definitely not planned by MJ to be used like this, this is a commercial opportunity for the record label as demo title fits perfectly the name of the London Tour. Jackson’s copy of the original recording of "This Is It" was apparently found in a box of tapes with only Jackson’s voice and a piano accompaniment. Strings were then added to the bare-bones recording, along with backing vocals from Jackson’s brothers and finger-click percussion.

This Is It – Lyrics

Ready? 1,2,3,4
This is it, here I stand
I’m the light of the world
I feel grand
And this love, I can feel
And I know, yes for sure
It is real

And it feels as though I’ve seen your face a thousand times
And you said you really know me, yourself
And I know that you have got addicted with your eyes
But you say you’re gonna leave it for yourself
Oh
I never heard a single word about you
Falling in love wasn’t my plan
I never thought that I would be your lover
Come on please just understand

This is it, like I said
I’m a light of your world
Run away
We can feel, this is real
Every time I’m in love yeah I feel

And I feel as though I’ve known you since a thousand years
And you tell me that you’ve seen my face before
And you said to me that you don’t want me hanging around
Many times wanna do it here before
Oh yeah
I never heard a single word about you
Falling in love wasn’t my plan
I never thought that I would be your lover
Come on please just understand

This is it, I can feel
I’m the light of the world
This is real
Feel my song, we can say
And I tell you feel that way

And it feels as though I’ve known you for a thousand years
And you said you saw my face yourself
And you said want to go with you all the while
And I know that it’s really for myself
Oh yeah
I never heard a single word about you
Falling in love wasn’t my plan
I never thought that I would be your lover
Come on please dear understand

I never heard a single word about you
Falling in love wasn’t my plan
I never thought that I would be your lover
Come on dear please understand
Oh yeah

I never heard a single word about you
Falling in love wasn’t my plan
