The Jackson 5 – Zip A Dee Doo Dah

Recorded by the Jackson 5 for their debut album, Diana Ross Presents The Jackson 5, issued in December 1969 in the US and March 1970 in the UK.

It was performed by the Jackson 5 at the Daisy club on 11th August 1969, for 300 specially invoted guests – attended by Berry Gordy. The group’s recorded version featured a snippet of Sly & The Family Stone’s hit, Sing A Simply Song.

Rehearsal footage by the Jackson 5 featured on a promotional film, sent to concert promoters in 1970, to help make them aware of the group.

The title is given to a budget Jackson 5 compilation, released by Music for Pleasure in the UK in January 1979 (no USA issue).

The song originally featured in Disney’s 1947 movie, Song Of The South – won the Grammy Award for Song of the Year.
