I'll never forget the first time I saw the Bad video, my mum got so excited because she LOVED off the wall and thriller so one of her fave artists had FINALLY bought out a new album, and my little brother and I caught on fast! I remember her showing me the rock with you video to show me what Michael used to look like, I was so convinced it was magic (at how he could change his skin colour)!! When we were growing up instead of watching cartoons mum and dad would make music videos for us to watch by taping songs off music countdowns etc.. so we had tapes full of Queen,Genesis, Paul Simon, Fleetwood Mac, Kylie Minogue, Madonna... all highly illegal lol, but it was DOMINATED by MJ vids from Bad, including classic vids too. Bad was my first ever tape I bought when I was 5, and it was played almost every day in the car and at home, until one day in 1990 the tape was inevitably chewed. We were unconsable, my brother and I actually cried. Maybe by then it wasnt played every day but it was still a favourite. Thank God for CDs! My fave songs... I don't think you can choose with Bad, I beleive it is Michael's best work. Maybe because its such a huge part of my childhood I don't know.. even the additional songs from the 2001 version ROCK. If I had to pick one.... Leave me Alone. I love that video and how angry MJ sounds as hes telling off the press. and the dance he does with the Elephant Man's bones!! |
