In The News : Ne-Yo Talks About Working On Michael's New Album

Posted by Chrissy on 2008/7/28 21:32:35  News by the same author
Singer Ne-Yo has confirmed his involvement in Michael’s new album in a recent interview with New York Magazine.

"Yeah, Michael's putting together a new album, and I'm helping him out with it."

The singer talked about how MJ actually called him personally to ask him about working on the project. Also, according to Ne-Yo they both discussed subjects for lyrics but it’s very “keep it to yourself” and very top secret.

"I actually hung up on him because I thought someone was playin'." "[I said] 'Who's this?' 'This is Michael Jackson.' Click. Then his representative called back. 'This is Peter Lopez. I have Michael Jackson on the phone.' And I was like, 'Oh my God. Are you serious?' And then I apologized for the next ten minutes."

Ne-Yo has reportedly already written a number of tracks for Michael’s new album, which he e-mails to Michael through MP3 files, and then, he just simply waits for that approving or disapproving phone call from the man himself.

He'll call me back and say, 'I really like song No. 3. Song No. 4, the hook could be stronger. Song No. 1, change the first verse. Okay, bye.' Click. And then I redo them and he's like, 'Okay, they're perfect. Send me more.' So I don't know what he's keeping, what he's getting rid of, what he's recording."

So, many of us are wondering if this album will be the comeback album that we’re all waiting for. Will this be the start of the biggest comeback for Michael? Ne-Yo says he certainly hopes so.

"He's definitely trying. He's trying to get back to a place where people remember why they love Michael Jackson in the first place. In the beginning, you didn't care about Michael Jackson's personal life. It was about his dancing and his music. That was why you loved Mike. He's trying to get back there. And I'm trying to help."

Ne-Yo, being a big MJ fan, who apparently dedicates one song from each of his albums to Michael, must be over the moon to be working with his idol on this project.

So folks, there’s another clue about the new album to keep us all going!
