Michael Jackson - Butterflies

Written by Marsha Ambrosius (of the UK duo Floetry, also provides backing vocals) and recorded and co-produced by Michael and Andre Harris.

Both the Floetry girls, Marsha and Natalie Stewart, were invited by Michael to visit the studio while he was recording the track.

"It was incredible because he asked," said Ambrosius, "he continually asked, 'Marsh, what's the next harmony? Girls, does this sound right? What do you think? is this what you were looking for?' He was so open."

Released to Ammerican radio stations in October 2001, and became the second of Michael's singles to chart the strength of airplay alone. Achieved no.2 on the R&B singles chart and no.14 on the hot 100 - however, the lack of a commercial single almost certainly cost Michael a chart topper.

An original demo version recorded by Floetry was included on the duo's debut album, 'Floetry', as a bonus track.

This song absolutely warms my heart.It's so beautiful and thought out.I love it,it's definitely one of my favorite songs, even though it's hard to choose favorites with MJ. The acapella version makes me cry and this one makes me tear up and cry, his effect with love songs is really powerful and I like that about MJ.

If my janky countrymen would have really pumped this Off The Wallesque nature of Invincible, it would have done much better. Rodney Jerkins tapped into what Mike is all about. He never sounded better! I still thnk there is some kinda video for this song around.
