One of three songs Michael worked on with Queen's Freddie Murcury, and recorded a demo duet version with Freddie in the summer of 1983 - Michael composed some of his own lyrics as the 5-6 hour session progressed.
The song was first considered for release on Queen's 1982 album, Hot Space - it failed to make the group's 1984 album, The Works, as well. A solo version by Freddie featured on his album, Mr Bad Guy, issued in 1985.
The recording of Michael and Freddie working on the song in 1983 surfaced on the internet in 2002 - this version featured Freddie talking about the song, and Michael singing solo, to piano accompaniment. A second, longer version has vocals by Michael and Freddie - both versions remain official unreleased.

There Must Be More To Life Than This - Lyrics
There must be more to life than this
There must be more to life than this
How do we cope in a world without love
Mending all those broken hearts
And tending to those crying faces
There must be more to life than killing (Freddie: that’s right )
A better way for us to survive (Freddie: adlib)
(Ad-libbed) in a world with our children
There must be more to life than this
Why is this world so full of hate
People dying everywhere
And we destroy what we create
People fighting for their human rights
But we’ll just go on saying “c'est la vie”
So this is life
There must be more to life than killing
There must be more than meets the eye
I live in hope for a world filled with love
Then we can all just live in peace
There must be more to life, much more to life
There must be more to life, more to life than this
