Michael Jackson - Another Part of Me

It originally featured in the short film, Captain EO, a 17 minute 3D space fantasy shot for Disney, and premiered at the Epcot Center in Orlando, Florida, on 12th September 1986. Costing $30 million, Captain EO was billed as 'a celebreation of triumph over evil', and was directed by Francis Ford Coppola (a la Godfather) and produced by George Lucas (a la Star Wars). The final screening was at Disneyland, Paris, on 16th August 1998.

It was included on Michael's album, Bad (1987), ahead of another of Michael's compositions, Streetwalker (which was finally issued in 2001, as one of the bonus tracks on the special edition of the same album).

It was the sixth single lifted from Bad, hitting no.1 (for one week) on the R&B singles chart in the US. As the fifth R&B chart topper from Bad (Dirty Diana stalled at no.5), it equalled a record held by Janet Jackson, for the most no.1 singles from one album (in her case, from Control).

The first five singles from Bad topped the Hot 100 (another record), but Another Part Of Me only made no.11, and peaked at no.15 in the UK.

It was part of a lawsuit heard in Mexico in 1993, when Robert Smith (aka Robert Austin), Reynard Jones and Clifford Rubin claimed it infringed the song, Send Your Love - the judgement was in Michael's favour.

It was featured in the film, Rush Hour (1998).
