Michael Jackson - Why You Wanna Trip On Me

Recorded by Michael for his album, Dangerous, issued in November 1991.

It was inspired by the things people say about Michael. "We knew people were after him, people all talking about him." said co-writer Teddy Riley. "But we didn't get too direct, we didn't say anybody's name, 'cause when you're too direct it gets boring."

It was played over the closing credits on Michael's home video, Dangerous - The Short Films.

The element I'm most proud of in this song is my guitar playing. I thought he [Jackson] was going to get another person to play on it but he wanted my good self playing! That was something special to me. I was using an acoustic Ovation guitar.

The whole song didn't take long to produce, actually. I think the longest part was writing everything and getting everything formatted. There's no studio trickery either, really. When you're doing analogue it's pretty much, you know, getting everything on tape, you know? It's very warm. That's basically it.

it's saddening and at the same time, frustrating to see that even after Michael's untimely death, the media kept on trippin' all over. One thing is that i'm glad that Michael can't see/hear all these madness. As we all wish for eternal peace for him... This is a great song, by the way!!!

C'est, avec Jam et In The Closet, la chanson qui a popularisé le New-Jack... Comme toujours, Michael est sur tous les fronts et envoie balader de quelques rimes tous ses détracteurs... Moi aussi, je la passe en boucle parfois (oui, moi aussi je consulte, ne vous inquiétez pas...) C'est du pur son de malade !! L'intro, le bridge et lafin sont justes génialissimes !!!

Michael, tu déchires tout sur ce morçeau !!!

LEAVE HIM ALONE!!! all the tabloids and rumor mills out there need to just leave him (and all celebrities) alone! it's so sad when you can't even walk out your own front door without camera flashes blinding you. there are much bigger fish to fry out there. we should give them a taste of their own medicine and follow them around with cameras

Attends Moony, on peut pas mettre 10/10 à chaque fois, il faut se maitriser, et essayer d'avoir un regard objectif... et posé.

Mais put... qu'est ce qu'il est trop bon ce titre!

pardon... J'ai eu des périodes Why You Wanna Trip On Me, où je me repassais en boucle, non pas la chanson entière, mais le début: le solo de guitare, et les premières mesures rythmées. Je trouve que cette chanson donne un bel aperçu de la première partie New-Jack de Dangerous, et des quelques morceaux de ce style qui vont suivre. De la série des Riley, c'est certainement celui que je préfère (à jeu égal avec Jam, Remember the Time, In the closet, She drives me wild, I Can't Let Her Get Away et Dangerous). J'adore les choeurs sur le refrain, tellement doux par rapport aux couplets, le texte nous interpelle tous. Le final est exceptionnel. 7/10

10 sur 10 c’est un minimum pour ce titre. Bell, Riley, Jackson…un trio de plus à graver sur nos CD et nos mémoires, rien de plus percutant au niveau Lyrics que cette chanson. Michael fume tout le monde en 4 couplets incisifs et que dire de ce refrain tellement plaintif…mais bordel, pourquoi vous vous focalisez sur moi, ya pas plus important à faire pour aider le monde ? blam !! Allez dégage…

Nan vraiment, je pense que j’ai du la faire tourner en boucle au moins toute une journée complète cette chanson, c’est grave oui je sais, mais je consulte vous inquiétez pas !!
