Michael Jackson - Unbreakable

Written by Michael with Rodney Jerkins, Fred Jerkins III, LaShawn Daniels, Nora Payne and Robert Smith, and recorded for his album, Invincible, issued in October 2001.

Backing vocals by Brandy, and featured a rap by the Notorious B.I.G.. "I was actually with Biggie when he did that rhyme," said producer Rodney Jerkins. "He was working with Shaq (Shaquille O'Neal) on an album track called You Can't Stop The Reign."

Cited by Michael, during his online chat with fans on 26th October 2001, as one of his three personal favourite tracks on the album. The same year, he explained the message behind the song: "That I'm invincible, that I've been through it all. You can't hurt me. Knock me down - I get back up."

Track Michael wanted to release as the first of seven planned singles from Invincible, accompanied by a 20 minute short film, set to co-star Mel Gibson and Chris Tucker. A shorter production schedule for the promo let Sony insisting on issuing You Rock My World as the lead single instead.



Listed in Music Week, the UK's trade music magazine, as a forthcoming new release in early 2002, before Sony Music made it known in March they had officially discontinued promoting Invincible, just six months after it appeared - thus the international release as singles of Unbreakable, Butterflies, Cry, Break Of Dawn, Speechless and Whatever Happens were all shelved.

Test pressings and promos only released in the UK, included an instrumental version.
