Song Michael wrote with Carole Bayer Sager and David Foster. subject of a song-writing contest organised by "Tonos Entertainment" and "AOL Music".
A statement released by Tonos read:
"Music serves as a salve for what ails the human spirit and a remedy to the soul during troubled times. Now, these three musical icons have created an inspiring musical landscape entitled I Have This Dream, and they’re asking AOL members to come up with an optimistic and uplifting lyric, to complete
this anthemic song."
The contest attracted over 1,000 entries and was won by Ric Kipp, whose lyric "best reflected our vision for the song".
Widely expected to be included on Michael’s album, INVINCIBLE, but didn’t feature. Speaking to TV Guide in November 1999, Michael said:
"There’s a song on the album called I Have This Dream. It’s a millennium song about the world and the environment, that I wrote with Carole Bayer Sager and David Foster".
Version, with numerous guest vocalists including R. Kelly, Snoop Dog, James Ingram, Shanice, the O’Jays and Michael’s brother, Jermaine, slated for release in early 2006, in aid of the victims of Hurricane Katrina – again, failed to appear and remains unreleased.
